Supplement 101

Dose vs Label

The labeled amount of an ingredient does not always reflect its effective dose, which depends on form, context, and actual active content.

Dose is not a single number.

What appears on the label may represent total compound weight, not the amount that actually drives biological effect.

This distinction is often hidden in plain sight.

At a high level, dose interpretation depends on three signals:

  • Active fraction — how much of the compound is functionally relevant
  • Form-dependent absorption — how delivery form affects availability
  • Contextual relevance — whether the dose aligns with intended use

A higher number does not automatically indicate a stronger product.
A lower number is not necessarily insufficient.

Dose only becomes meaningful when read in structure.
Numbers alone do not carry context.
