Supplement 101

How to Read a Formula

Reading a supplement formula involves understanding how ingredients interact, whether they are meaningfully dosed, and how the overall composition aligns with a clear purpose.

Formulation

A supplement is not a list. It is a composition.

Ingredients do not act independently.
Their relevance depends on how they are combined, dosed, and prioritized.

At a high level, reading a formula comes down to three signals:

  • Primary vs secondary ingredients — which components define the product’s intent
  • Dose distribution — whether key ingredients are meaningfully dosed or diluted
  • Coherence — whether the formula aligns with a clear use case or mixes unrelated elements

More ingredients do not create a better product.

Structure determines whether a formula is focused or fragmented.
Without structure, complexity adds noise.
