Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin involved in neurological function, red blood cell formation, and DNA synthesis.

Vitamins

Vitamin B12 is functionally specific.

It is closely tied to neurological processes and cellular replication,
with roles in red blood cell formation and DNA synthesis.

At a high level, evaluation comes down to three signals:

  • Form (methylcobalamin, cyanocobalamin, etc.) — differences in stability and metabolism
  • Absorption pathway — dependence on intrinsic factor and delivery method
  • Dose vs utilization — how intake translates into usable levels

B12 is often supplemented at high doses.
Absorption does not scale linearly.

Presence on the label does not guarantee effective uptake.
Delivery determines relevance.
